It is important to keep your car’s tires well taken care of so that you have the best chance of getting through the snowy roads. Be sure to get your tires properly inflated and rotated, and check the treads to make sure you will have enough traction in the snow.
Get all repairs done as early in the winter season as possible. This could prevent you from getting stranded in a bad situation!
Check the weather and road conditions on the route you will be traveling before you leave. there are dozens of smartphone apps that can tell you the weather conditions.
Be sure to keep a cellphone and car charger in your vehicle any time you are driving. Having a cell phone can make a world of difference if you are stranded!
Make an Emergency Kit:
Outer Clothing such as: Hats, gloves, socks, and blankets: Enough for any passengers that might be in your car. Sleeping bags are great too!
Hand and foot warmers
First aid kit
Salt or Sand: These can both give your car traction if you are stuck in the snow. Even a bag of kitty litter can be a huge help!
Empty gas can: in case you need to walk to a gas station
For those with little ones, a few changes of clothes, extra diapers, and wipes are also a must.
